I was reading through some forums for some good ideas for articles and I found this which I thought was good advice and I wanted to share it.

1)Research - Read what others are writing, especially authors in your field that you respect.

2)Outline - Make a detailed outline to plan your article. Most likely, you will often find that you have enough material to write 2, 3, or more articles.

3)Write - The formula for this is "Introduction, Body, Conclusion."

4)Revise - It may be best to put the article away for awhile. Come back to it in a day, week, month, or more with a fresh perspective. Then, rewrite the article for readability and search engine optimization (like keyword density, etc.)

5)Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

If anyone else has any advice please share.

I think you have to determine your audience, too and what your approach will be based on that.

For example, if I'm writing a technical article with lots of detail for beginners, I'll have a different approach than if I'm writing the article for people with more experience.

Also, I think it's important to determine your tone...I tend to like a person to person, slightly tongue-in-cheek approach, but that doesn't work for all audiences.
