Glossy Ball in Adobe Photoshop:
Step 1:
First create a dark colored circle, I used the shape tool to create mine.
Step 2:
Next you will need to select the ball. I did this by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the the circle's thumbnail on the layers palette. Now go to the menu item Select->Transform Selection or press Alt+Ctrl+,. Drag the bottom up like the illustration shows and pull the left and right in like the illustration.
Step 3:
Add a new layer, Select the gradient tool in the tools palette.
Step 4:
Click the "D" key to make the foreground colors default black and white and then click the "X" to make white the foreground color. Up at the top under the main Photoshop menus you will see a gradient drop down box, choose the second one over from the left.
Step 5:
You should still have your selection active. Make sure the new empty layer is active and place your cursor just above the selection press and drag the mouse about half way down the selection and let go.
Step 6:
That was the highlights, now you will need to add the shadow. In the layers palette press the Ctrl key and click the circle layer to select the circle again. Now create a new empty layer, select the gradient tool, click the "D" key and place the cursor just below the selection and press the drag the mouse about a quarter of the way up the circle.

Looks simple enough to do. If I ever get photoshop I'll have to give it a try. _________________ Eye Quilt
