I recently wanted to make a dynamic site have search engine friendly URLs, but after I got into it I wasn't sure I could do it. So then I got to wondering if I go forward and invest all the time it will take to make it work, is it really worth it?

The site I am wanting to do is a PHPBB site like this one I am posting on. Does anyone know an easy way to accomplish this?

I mean how much of a difference does the actual URL make compared to the content and the title tags.

I interested in hearing every ones opinion.

This is a great topic. I am 100% sold on SEO URLs. It is the first thing I do to any major application that I use for the Tiger Team web development business.

Yes, it can be a hassle, but the results we have experienced have been phenomenal! It is a fact that the search engines put major emphasis on the URL. When it comes to having a website with numbers for the URL .vs an actual text description it can mean all the difference in the world.

I had trouble when I first set out to SEO this particular forum we are in now. I ended up using 3 different contribs that I found. I took a little bit from each contrib picking and choosing my favorite pieces till I had what I wanted. I then zipped it up and use it as a standard install.

It is for version 2 of PHPBB, but I have recently adapted an SEO friendly contrib for PHPBB3 as well and you can see it at work here: http://math-resource.teacherwalt.com
