Think about web design usability the same way you would anything else.

For example: I was getting gas the other day and I got out of the car, scanned my credit card... and it prompted me for "Debit or Credit?" ... BUT there were no buttons for debit or credit. The only thing on there was a number pad and some arrow buttons (which did nothing to help me). So while I was looking around for an answer, it timed out and processed it as a credit card.

In your daily life look at things that you wish were easier to use and try to relate that same thought to your website. You have to design from the customer's point of view.

And if you are not your own webmaster (ie, you hire someone else to do the design for you) and you find a problem in usibility, bring it up to your webmaster.
